This art project will help students create their own colorful, repetitive portraits inspired by Andy Warhol! Recommended for students in grades 4, 5, and up, this art lesson will likely take three or four class periods.

This resource is delivered as a PDF that includes information about the art lesson and procedures for the teacher, one “Drawing a Portrait” handout, and 3 versions of the student direction handout (one to use for 12” square drawing paper, 9” square drawing paper, and 9”x12” drawing paper).

Materials needed:

– Drawing paper: 12”x12”, 9”x9”, or 9”x12”

– Pencils

– Thin black permanent markers like Sharpies

– Rulers or straightedge

– Masking tape

– Crayons, or other coloring material of choice
