Begin an introduction to the basics of myth and story. This lesson discusses the definition of myth, legend, folklore, and fairytales and discusses the similarities and differences between these types of stories, and why they are important. Students will learn about the origins of the Greek gods and their myths, Cronus and the titans, Mt. Olympus, and Hades and basic facts about the major Greek gods and goddesses including Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Hephestus.

Journey Through Ancient Greece is a creative writing game that asks students to roleplay as time travelers documenting what they find. Working in teams, students will use cards and dice (online version provided) to guide them through their journey. Randomized suggestions help students to imagine the creatures and people they encounter.

Norse Society and Culture covers topics such as Norse religion, women in Norse society, and Viking ships. A great way to introduce students to the culture and society that shaped Norse mythology. Topics covered include Norse women, longhouses, Viking ships, and Norse god names in English days of the week.

Students will learn about the world of Norse myth. This lesson introduces students to the World Tree, the Nine Realms, and the destruction of the World Tree during Ragnarök. Students will learn about some of the creatures that inhabit the World Tree including Ratatoskr and Vedolfonir.
