How do Students Play the Halloween Escape Room – Prefix Suffix Activity?

  • Click the numbers (1-8) to select each unique prefix and suffix activity.
  • Students enter their answers in the Google Form represented by the Magnifying Glass.
  • We recommend students keep the Answer Sheet open throughout the prefix suffix game until they have escaped.
  • On the other hand, students can now use paper recording sheets.
  • We recommend that you allow at least one hour to complete the Halloween Prefix Suffix activities.

Important Notes:

1. Ensure your school has access to these websites (when linked from outside your school):

  • Thinglink.com
  • Google Forms
  • Google Slides

Even if your students access Google Forms and Google Slides on a regular basis, the school firewall may still block these websites when the link comes from outside your school. Ask your IT person to unblock the above websites. They are safe and required to play the Halloween escape room.

2. We highly recommend that you clear the computer’s cache after each group so that the answers to the prefix suffix games  are erased from the computer. If students from different classes use the same computers, the answers that the 1st class put in will be visible to the 2nd class if the cache is not cleared.

3. This Halloween escape room activity is built on the “honesty policy”. This means that students have the freedom to try each prefix suffix puzzle in the haunted house escape room as many times as necessary to get to the correct answer. Please monitor students throughout the 360° digital escape room to ensure they are giving this Halloween escape room their best intellectual effort and not just clicking through the prefix suffix games.

How to use this resource:

1. Chat with your IT person

Confirm that student devices can access Google Forms and Google Slides when accessed from links that come from outside your school. Student devices will also need to access ThingLink.Com (our hosting platform).

2. Give students the link

Get the URL from the product file and give it to students.

You may want to review the answer key and walk through the escape room before giving students the link so that you know exactly what students will be experiencing.

3. Watch them learn

Students will be highly motivated to work together and find the answers to place value problems in this SUPER FUN Halloween activity! Your job is simply to give reminders or prompts as needed.

To use the paper version of this Halloween Escape Room:

  • Project the Halloween escape room from your “teacher” computer onto the SmartBoard and have students complete the paper version individually.
  • Have the students complete the paper version in groups without projecting the digital escape room on your SmartBoard.
  • Print for the perfect sub plan!

Please ask any and all questions before purchasing!

How do Students Play the Prefix Suffix Halloween Escape Room Game i.e., “move around” in the 360º photo?

  • Click and drag the mouse to move throughout the 360 environment.
  • Students enter their answers in the Google Form located at the Magnifying Glass.
  • We recommend students keep the Answer Sheet open (or use scratch paper) throughout the prefix suffix game until they have escaped

PLEASE NOTE: We highly recommend that you clear the computer’s cache after each group so that the answers are erased from the computer.
