Item description

Word sorts with prefixes and
suffixes for word study notebooks, great companion to Words Their Way or
other word study program, grades 4 and 5, also for middle and high school if
you have students in need of this type of instruction

This resource includes:

  • 16 word sorts featuring
common English affixes, with 21 words per sort (6 prefix sorts and 10 suffix
    sorts)

** Each sort prints on one page with 21
cards that need cut apart

These sorts are designed to be easily
integrated into a comprehensive word study program, and can easily be glued
onto the pages of an interactive word study notebook for future practice or
review.  I recommend printing the cards
on card stock and laminating them so they can be used and re-used many times,
but this will require some more up-front prep work on your part.  For a LOW-PREP option, these can be used in
centers as a manipulative only and not glued onto pages or sorting boards, so
they can be re-used as students rotate through your centers.  There are also plenty of opportunities for
vocabulary extension with these sorts, because I’ve tried to include a mixture
of common and not-so-common words with the featured affixes.
